Tara Leigh Cakes is a one-woman show, owned and operated by Tara Canaday.
Tara is a self-taught cake artist & established pastry chef. She wears ALL of the hats at Tara Leigh Cakes, including dishwasher, cake designer/consultant, baker and more!
A former Vocal Performance major at Boston's Berklee College of Music, Tara traded in her microphone for a whisk & began making cakes and desserts for friends and family. She is an honors graduate of the Pastry Arts program at Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, where she learned French/European Pastry as well as cake decorating & edible showpiece work. After working in the restaurant industry for a few years and continuing to make cake creations from home, Tara decided it was time to expand & open a storefront location.
Her favorite things to make (aside from cake art) are French Macarons-in both traditional and creatively different flavors.
In her spare time, Tara enjoys spending time with her daughter Alexis (Tara Leigh Cakes' BIGGEST fan), singing, traveling, & teaching voice at A Broadway Kids Company, savory cooking & relaxing on Spofford Lake.
